Ricky tries to have his custody agreement declare he cannot live with his mother Nora. He asks his foster parents to take her in because he‘s still getting over being her child. They initially say no but look like they will agree to it. Grant asks Grace to get tested before they have sex because Grace was with Jack who was with Adrian who had sex with Ricky who slept around a lot. They fight but when Grant tells Grace he loves her she agrees to get tested. Lauren is devastated that her boyfriend Jesse broke up with her because he‘s a senior and will be going off to college soon.

Guess Who’s Not Coming To Dinner
Margaret, Ricky‘s foster mom, lays down the ground rules for his birthmother living at their home. No men or women in her bedroom. Margaret has heard that Nora is a lesbian. Nora casually tells Ricky that she has a girlfriend who is a public defender. It‘s her first real relationship. Though he‘s frustrated and it takes some getting used to, he eventually agrees to meet her. Ben asks Ruben and Cindy if he can have Adrian‘s hand in marriage. While skeptical, Ben‘s effort that he puts into asking Adrian to marry him overwhelms Cindy and she agrees. Ben asks Adrian and she excitedly says yes.

Episode 4
Another Proposal
Amy is upset that Adrian and Ben are getting married. Ricky tries to convince Ben not to marry Adrian so he‘s not pressured to marry Amy. With this, Ben himself is getting nervous about a big wedding. Amy, jealous of the steps that Adrian and Ben are taking, wants to move forward with Ricky and so she proposes to him. On another marriage front, Lauren finds out that her mom and step-dad are splitting up. But she doesn’t know that it‘s because her mom and dad are getting back together.

Episode 5
Deeper and Deeper
Ricky is still reeling from Amy asking him to marry her. Everyone around him is pushing him to give her an answer but he‘s not ready to deal with the consequences of saying no just yet. He just wants to take care of the baby and work at the butcher shop so Amy can go to college. Because of his hesitancy Adrian, who knows Ricky better than anyone else, tells Amy to use reverse psychology on him. She pretends that she respects his decision and he asks Amy to move in with him. Grace tells her mother she‘s having a sleep over at Grant‘s and Kathleen makes her promise they‘ll use condoms. When they do have sex, they love it! They admit to each other that they are glad they waited because they are closer now than they were before, and both say “I love you”.

Episode 6
Moving in and Out
Ashley is enraged that Amy is moving in with Ricky. George isn‘t much happier because he knows she‘s doing it because she wants to keep up with Ben and Adrian. Anne talks some sense into Amy that this isn‘t a competitive situation and that if Ricky and Amy aren‘t sure about living together then they should make sure it‘s right before they do. Amy can sense that Ricky is nervous about her moving in and tells him that they should take some more time. Ricky is relieved.

Young at Heart
Adrian and Grace shop for wedding dresses and Adrian contemplates getting married in a church. She admits that she and Ben had amazing, crazy, fun sex and that she feels very blessed. Ricky runs into Karlee, the sister of Ashley‘s study buddy, Toby. She invites herself over to his place that night. He goes into Amy and she confidently declares that it‘s important for him to understand that when she says “No” to sex, she means no. She doesn‘t mean forever, but sex is not just on his terms. He‘s frustrated and storms out. But in a turn of events, when Karlee stops by his place that night to have sex with him, Ricky doesn‘t answer the door.

Loose Lips
Grace‘s mom made invitations for Adrian‘s birthday, but the girls are stumped as to who to invite. Adrian gets upset because she feels like Amy forcing her to come up with a guest list is her way of pointing out Adrian has no friends. Ben tries to protect Adrian by talking to Amy but Ricky insists it‘s a chick fight and they have to stay out of it. Ben goes to Amy‘s house and viciously puts Amy down. He‘s downright mean. George walks in mid fight and kicks Ben out. This fight incorporates the whole town. George and Leo get into it. Ashley and Amy get into it. Ricky and Adrian fight.

Episode 9
Round II
Adrian finds out that Amy said that Adrian got pregnant and is marrying Ben to get back at Ricky for dating Amy. Adrian refuses to allow Amy to throw her a baby shower. At school there is a blow up in the hallway. Amy yells that she‘s tired of being a teenage mom, Adrian says she‘ll have it harder because she‘s never had a best friend and support system like Amy has, Ben starts to apologise to everyone for saying the things he said and tries to explain Amy and Adrian‘s intentions in regards to the baby shower and how Ricky‘s history caused all of it. Ricky yells at all of them for making him the cause of their discontent. Amy attends Adrian‘s shower along with another girls who appreciate Adrian for her wonderful qualities. Adrian has a beautiful shower and at last, there is peace.

Episode 10
It’s Not Over Till It’s Over
Adrian and Ben both have second thoughts about having a baby and getting married. Ben also tells Amy that he‘s not ready to get married and have a baby, but Amy stays neutral. Ricky and Amy agree not to say anything and to let Adrian and Ben move forward with the wedding. After they are married, Ben gives Adrian a wedding gift, a diamond bracelet. On his guidance counselors recommendation, Ricky shows up with flowers for Amy trying to woo her before he sleeps with her instead of pressuring her.

Episode 11
To Be…
Adrian and Ben are settled into their condo as Mr. and Mrs. Boykewich. Amy gets upset that another couple has had sex in Ricky‘s bed and that Ricky has slept in his bed with lots of different girls. She tells him to buy a new bed. But when Ricky discusses this with his mom, Nora helps him realise that Amy‘s probably upset that Ricky‘s going to college and she might think he‘s leaving her. Ricky goes to Amy and reiterates that he‘s never leaving her and John and that he‘s buying a new bed. He asks her to take a trip with him and get some one on one time together and Amy feels cherished.

Episode 12
When One Door Closes
Amy decides that she and John will move in with Ricky permanently. Adrian is extremely depressed over the loss of her baby, Ben tries to get Adrian to go to school or leave the house but she refuses and doesn’t want anyone’s help. Amy tells Adrian she’s moving in with Ricky. Ricky meanwhile goes to his therapist. Ricky keeps focusing on Adrian, he’s worried Ben will leave her now that they don’t have a baby and she’s so unhappy.

Another One Opens
Adrian tells Ben about Amy and Ricky moving in together. Ben is upset but tries to hide it. George is upset that Amy is living with Ricky and confronts her about her new living situation. Though George is not pleased with her decision, he assures her that she’s his little girl and can move home at any time. Ashley calls to check in with George while on her road trip with Toby. She and Toby are taking route 66 but their trip is taking longer than expected which makes George concerned she’s not learning. At school, Ben approaches Ricky and tells him he’s upset Amy told Adrian about them living together. Ben thinks if he ever leaves Adrian, Ricky will leave Amy because he’ll feel sorry for Adrian. Ricky assures Ben he loves Amy and wants to be with her for the rest of his life.

Amy Juergens becomes pregnant after an one night stand with band mate Ricky Underwood. Upon returning to school, Amy begins a relationship with Ben Boykewich, a highly supportive classmate with whom she falls in love. Amy struggles to balance a teenage life with pregnancy and to find a way to provide the best possible life for her child once it is born. Recently, she realises that she has feelings for the father of her baby, Ricky and agrees to be a couple with him if he stops sleeping around with other women.

Ricky Underwood
Ricky Underwood is the son of Bob Underwood and Nora Underwood and the biological father of John Juergens. Ricky is a Junior at Ulysses S. Grant High School where he is the drummer in the high school marching band and holds the reputation of being the school's bad boy and player. His biological father, Bob, is a drug addict who beat Ricky's mother, and sexually abused Ricky as a child. Ricky is now in foster care and sees a therapist Dr. Ken Fields, the father of Lauren. He is shown to actually be capable of loving, as shown with his son John and with Amy.

Benjamin "Ben" Boykewich
Benjamin "Ben" Boykewich joined band in order to meet Amy and asked her out to a school fundraiser. When Ben learns Amy is pregnant, he panics, believing he has managed to get her pregnant through kissing, and proposes to her. Later on through the series, Ben learns he managed to get someone pregnant, but not Amy, Adrian, which they decided to keep.

George Juergens
George Juergens is the estranged husband of Anne Juergens, the father of Amy, Ashley, and Robby Juergens, and the grandfather of John Juergens. George is a comically blunt, somewhat immature, and often oblivious man, but one who loves his family and tries hard to protect them and keep them together. His first wife was Kathleen Bowman, a woman who married him for sex. George, a furniture salesman, met Anne while she was in college. He and Anne eloped shortly after discovering Anne was pregnant with Amy and had Ashley two years later.

Ashley Juergens
Ashley Juergens is the youngest daughter of Anne and George Juergens, youngest granddaughter of Mimsy, the younger sister of Amy Juergens and older sister to Robby Juergens, and the aunt of John Juergens. She is mature, observant, and sarcastic, tending to speak in a low, monotone voice. Between her parents' marital troubles and Amy's pregnancy, Ashley is often forgotten by her family and remarks that she could get away with anything. However, Ashley's main concern is keeping her family together, including her nephew. Ashley believes that the baby will reunite her dividing family and worked hard to discourage Amy from adoption.

Jack Pappas
Jack Pappas is a junior who is on the football team. His step-father, Reverend Stone, is the minister of the church Grace's family attends, and told him to date Grace only to ensure her wealthy family continued to donate. He also breaks up with Grace after a little while that they spent together, and moves in with Tom in Grace's famliy's guest house.

Grace Bowman
Grace Bowman is the biological daughter of Marshall and Kathleen Bowman and the younger sister of the adopted Tom Bowman. She is a sixteen year old sophomore, ex cheerleader, and dreams of attending medical school. Grace is a devout Christian and does her best to act accordingly.

Adrian Lee
Adrian Lee is the biological daughter of Ruben Enriquez and Cindy Lee. She is seventeen years old. Adrian is intelligent, both book smart and street smart, hard-edged, and emotional. Although she is a straight A student and a majorette, she has a reputation for being a charmer and the "school slut". She also has strong feelings for Ricky, despite her claims that she doesn't anymore after they stop talking to each other. Adrian grew up never knowing who her father was, until she went on a search to find him. Now she lives with her mother, who remarried her father after 16 years, and live next door to the Jeurgens. Her mother is a flight attendant and her father is a DA. Adrian and Ben had a one night stand which resulted in Adrian getting pregnant. She had her mind set on abortion, but she eventually backed out and decided to keep the baby.

Anne Juergens
Anne Juergens is the daughter of Mimsy and Robert, the estranged wife of George Juergens, the mother of Amy, Ashley & Robby Juergens, and the grandmother of John Juergens. She is a responsible, practical, and naturally independent woman who tries to instill the same virtues in her daughters. Anne met George while majoring in Women's Studies at college. When Anne discovered she had become pregnant with Amy, she reluctantly dropped out of college, married George, and became a housewife. Two years later she and George had Ashley.
